Dear members, please read this advice with care before using your social networking site, facebook or any other similar sites.You may find that if you unknowingly mention your school/workplace in your profile page or refer to any work colleagues/clients of Barnsley MBC directly or indirectly, you may face disciplinary action against you for breaking the dignity at work policy or the Council’s code of conduct.
UNISON would also advice members to be careful about who you join as friends along with what information you place on the site in the public domain.
We are seeing a growing number of members being disciplined for comments made on social networking sites. Please be careful!

1 comment postedAlso Ray, it should be noted that even if you cease employment with BMBC and you should enter an item on a Social Networking Site against employee still within BMBC or say something against BMBC as the establishment then you are also vulnerable to action still being taken. This beware has happend and actions have been taken. For once I have to say BMBC did the right thing defended the employees as also themselves.
