The H.S.E,(Health and Safety executive)board, agreed on wednesday to recommend to the minister the change in the RIDDOR Regulations that lord young recommended in the nonsenicle "common sense common safety" to change the RIDDOR reporting period from over 3 days to over 7 days, the consultation exercise showed that a majority was in favour of 2 to 1.Trade union representatives from around the country expressed their oppersition to this change: it is belived that data from over3 day incidents was necessary to allow both the employers and the safety representatives to identify accident trends, and changers would only creat confusion as their is still a requirment to record after 3 day incidents, even a number of employers representatives outlined their reservations about these changers, but the H.S.E board agreed to recommend the chagers and to proceed in principle but it is to be reviewed in 3 years.
