Day of Dissent 21 June 2010
  
The further and higher education trade unions, including the National Union of Students, have called for a day of protest over funding cuts. This protest day will be held on 21 June 2010. This is not industrial action but coordinated protests, stunts and rallies that will take place during break and lunch time.
 
We are asking all staff and students to ensure that the coalition government is in no doubt that we will defend our colleges, universities, jobs and learners.
 
 
Service group structures

Following a formal consultation involving branches, regions , college and university reps the UNISON National Executive Committee has put forward a rule change to create a new combined FE/6th form and HE Service Group, which will be debated at the UNISON National Delegate Conference in June 2010.

This service group would formally come into being in 2012 with a joint interim structure established for 2010/11 and will be known as the Universities and Colleges Service Group.
